Extra-matt surfaces have become a key marker of contemporary interiors. S-MATT from ICA Group preserves the premium look while giving the surface the performance needed in real use.
Why extra-matt surfaces often become the weak point
A low gloss level can be achieved in several ways. The harder task is to keep the surface uniform, durable, and easy to maintain at the same time.
The deeper the matt effect, the more visible everyday marks can become. This is especially true for black, graphite, and other saturated colours, and for handleless furniture that is touched constantly.

What S-MATT is
S-MATT is a family of high-technology transparent and pigmented ICA coatings for interior surfaces. The series differ by application and curing method, while sharing one visual language: an extra-matt, anti-glare, soft-touch surface with stronger performance.
The system is selected for a specific product, substrate, load, and production line. Depending on the series, it can be used on solid wood, natural and reconstructed veneer, MDF, melamine paper, glass, and plastic.
S-MATT is used across different substrates and textures when a calm extra-matt surface is required.
An extra-matt surface supports a contemporary interior without visual noise or excess shine.
Key S-MATT advantages
Extra-matt surface with no glare
Gloss up to 5 gloss gives the surface a deep and uniform look. Large fronts and panels read as continuous architectural planes.
Soft-touch feel
A pronounced soft-touch feel makes contact part of the product experience. It matters for handleless fronts, doors, panels, and furniture.
Anti-fingerprint and easy care
The surface shows fewer touch marks and dirt is easier to remove with a soft damp cloth. This is especially important for dark colours.
Resistance for daily use
Depending on the series, S-MATT provides resistance to scratches, stains, and cold liquids. The resistance level is chosen for the product's use.
A surface that can recover
One of the most distinctive S-MATT properties is the ability to reduce or remove shallow surface damage. The polymer structure helps the coating regain its original uniformity under heat or with a damp cloth.
The method depends on the selected series. Excimer systems recover with moist heat; AOX can be wiped carefully with a cloth dampened in warm water; OPX uses a hair dryer followed by wiping.
One look, several technologies
The strength of S-MATT is that the same visual result can be achieved on production lines with different equipment. The system can be matched to the actual line, required load, and product type.
AOX: extra-matt without a dedicated line
Many furniture manufacturers work without an excimer or full UV line. For these factories, the most practical entry into S-MATT technology is the AOX series.
These are two-component water-based coatings applied by standard spraying and dried in a conventional process. They suit vertical surfaces and edges: kitchen fronts, wardrobes, doors, wall panels, and other interior parts.
Stable results depend on surface preparation, primer, hardener, application quantity, temperature, humidity, drying, and the waiting time before stacking.
Where S-MATT is used
The range covers many interior tasks. With the right series, S-MATT can be used on vertical and horizontal surfaces, smooth and textured parts, natural and composite substrates.

tables and selected worktops
wooden floors and decorative elements
A modern coating must be beautiful and safe
In interiors, the surface affects both the look of the product and the environment people live in every day. The S-MATT range includes products with very low emissions of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds.
The series is declared with French emission class A+, no formaldehyde or CMR category 1A and 1B substances, REACH compliance, and EN 71 safety requirements for products children may contact.
More than a beautiful sample: a complete solution
S-MATT helps manufacturers combine design and practicality in one surface. The coating looks deep and uniform, avoids glare, feels pleasant, shows fewer fingerprints, and withstands daily use.
The result depends on choosing the right product, substrate, durability level, primer, finish, film thickness, application method, and curing regime.
We will select S-MATT for your production
We select the system around the substrate, product, load, and equipment, so the extra-matt finish works in production, not only on a sample.
