Metal powders for decorative furniture and interior finishes

PM600/ powders create high-metal-content Liquid Foil finishes on prepared furniture and interior substrates. Tin, brass, two golds, bronze, iron and copper are combined with sanding, polishing or artistic treatment to achieve an approved sample.

Application method

Spray and surface treatment

Air spray or AIRMIX, nozzle at least 2 mm, at least 750 g/m². Dry at room temperature for 48 hours to 4 days. Then sand P400, P600 and Abralon P1000–P4000; polish with a dedicated brush.

Surface preparation

  • Sand polyester primer with P280 then P320 and remove dust. Overcoating the LAC626/C200 acrylic system substantially reduces its metallic effect. Use a clear topcoat on the polyester system after adhesion testing.
  • Metal fillers can oxidise and change shade. A clear topcoat improves oxidation resistance but does not eliminate oxidation. Test the system on an approved sample.
  • Agree the formulation and cycle parameters with a technologist using the current TDS. Protective options include OAC363, LAC366 or LAC367, depending on the system and target gloss.
